Alex Rhodes

Hailing from rural North Carolina and living in urban Colorado, Alex Rhodes writes upbeat, down-home music full of charming stories and colorful characters.

His songs are easily singable with catchy guitar and harmonica licks over some fine foot drumming. This is what happens when you're raised on folk music and your dad teaches you to play the guitar.

Rhodes recently released “That Will Be All,” produced and recorded with Joel Turner at Livid Lion Studio (Ghost Town Revelry, To Better Waters) and mastered by Kieran Kelly at The Buddy Project (Angus & Julia Stone, Sufjan Stevens).

“That Will Be All” feels like a first-hand account of life lessons and reminiscent brags shared from a coffee-induced driver running hot down the highway. Rhodes keeps this front seat conversation interesting with stories ranging from evading arrest to past loves and even a fond farewell. He captures the emotion of each tale with memorable and hummable guitar and harmonica riffs.

Rhodes was lead singer of the rock band Allday Afternoon in Chapel Hill, NC in the early 2000s. His solo work is based in folk and alt-country music, and he is influenced by artists like Wilco, Evan Dando, Josh Ritter and Joe Pug.

He believes in music as a therapeutic medium. In fact, his past “day job” was working in the marketing department at Integrated Listening Systems, a therapy company that combines music and movement to improve brain function and performance.
