Queen City Country & Western is a new music collective helmed by Hang Rounder and Hi-Dive co-owner Curtis Wallach with the mission of spreading classic country music to the people of Denver. Swallow Hill is excited to work with them to bring some of Denver's best country bands to Daniels Hall for a night of pedal steel, cold beer, and rhinestones. Strap on your dancin' boots because we are pulling out our chairs to make space for everyone to show off their best two-steppin' skills.

New country done the good old way since 2015. The band members’ pedigree reads like a who’s who of Denver dive-bar hero musicians (featuring members of The Legendary River Drifters, Dudebabes, The Knew, Ned Garthe Explosion, CrushCraze, Bangtel), but what comes across in the music is four mountain men manifesting Johno Roberts’ tales of his native Tennessee and his observations on a changing Colorado.

Hang Rounders’ music is best heard on a dance floor, where it is allowed to do its work and get you movin’, singin’, and bringin’ (your sister).

Their newest songs, “June Bug” b/w “Shaky Hands,” out on 7 inch vinyl in December 2018, were produced at Mighty Fine Productions in Denver, CO with engineer Colin Bricker, and feature guest musicians Mark Shusterman (Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats) on keys and the most excellent Jennifer Jane Niceley on backing vocals.

“Undeniably American roots music at its finest.” -- Brett Callwood, Westword

“The band really impresses with a rockin’ country sound with dashes of soul and Southern rock that might’ve come straight out of the 1970s.” -- Kelly Gregory, Country Music People

Outta Beer, Outta Here has both a stamp of grade-A quality and the rough-and-tumble that makes it sound good.” -- Rachel Cholst, No Depression

“His lyrics have the directness and heart-wrenching details of legendary country songs.” -- Steve Graham, Thirst Colorado

3 time losers of “Colorado’s Best Country Band” award from Denver’s Westword.

There's a movement bringing classic country music into the 21st century, with a renewed authenticity not typically found on the radio, and the standard-bearer is Casey James Prestwood. With roots in the South, and refined in the Rockies, Prestwood has crafted a lively and infectious sound that is solely his own.
